“Strive therefore day by day that your actions may be beautiful prayers.” Abdul Baha
“Everyone has the right to be, become and belong.” Thomas Hubl
A visual communicator and humanitarian at heart, I am passionate about telling stories, educating others, and inspiring greater futures. My true north is when I am behind my camera or on-location in relationship with who or what is before me. This may be the beauty of the natural world, the intimacy of someones individual story or a group of stories being woven together. The end result is for us all to bear witness, be informed, transformed and inspired by important truths that their/our combined story reveals. Starting with what is emergent, I am increasingly drawn to contribute my unique skill set to collaboratively forward initiatives/movements that are contributing to healing, transformation, and awakening individually and collectively. I am devoted to elevating women’s voices, including our earth mother.
Since the pandemic I have been growing my awareness and competencies around healing individual, collective and ancestral trauma. I am also doing so around holding safe, sacred relational spaces to foster healing, trust and community. For the past 25 years I have been evolving technical and human systems forward. This has been primarily within healthcare, holistic health and some community based initiatives. I have done so through my camera (both still and video), training, facilitating groups and as a consultant pioneering new initiatives. I’m looking forward to co-evolving trauma-integrated societal and human systems that offer greater ecosystems of health and wellbeing for all.
One of the key formative thresholds that has shaped my past, present and unfolding future was being a Peace Corps Volunteer in 1994-95. Following my return I embarked upon an over 10-year journey of recovering from ongoing health challenges, which in part continues to this day. In parallel, I was learning the ins and outs of both western & alternative health approaches as both a consultant and patient. My passion grew to direct my cameras, and my voice as a catalyst for frontline holistic healing practices and causes to tell their story and grow their reach and impact.
My visual journey began with photography in the 80’s. As an artist it led me to Africa, Guatemala, Hong Kong, France, Thailand, Mexico, throughout the U.S and honoring diverse stories in my home state of Minnesota. My visual storytelling toolkit has evolved to include all aspects of video production. In earlier parts of my journey I held over 25 exhibits. In production currently is Phase I of Fire to Gold: An Alchemy of Women’s Stories exhibition(s) and conversation circles. Phase II includes a documentary film. Being a small business owner and consultant on large scale projects throughout the past 20 years, I bring awareness, knowledge and skills to what it takes to run a business or complex project.
